We’ve been using the Ryobi cordless vacuum for six months now, and we have no complaints. It has plenty of suction power to clean vehicles, get crumbs between couch cushions, clean up standing water, and even pick up dirt and fruit snacks from the kids.
It comes with several handy attachments, including a squeegee attachment that we really like for effective water suction, and a flat nozzle for use in tight spaces like in cars.
The first charge took the longest, but we didn’t have to charge it frequently because it lasted well between uses. The charger is compact and doesn’t take up much space with or without the battery attached.
The hose is a good length—long enough to move around the room without having to readjust, but short enough to store easily. It’s not the lightest vacuum, and the battery adds weight, but it’s easy to move even when fully charged, and the wheels make it even easier.
Cleaning out the large canister is a breeze—just dump out the crumbs and wipe with a paper towel or rag. After wet cleaning, just unscrew the cap to drain. We like that the drain is flush with the bottom, so any standing water can be drained without assistance.
However, we were less fond of the locking mechanism on the top of the canister. The double-lock lock pushes in rather than snaps down; while we didn’t get our fingers pinched, it’s possible.
It’s also more expensive than other commercial vacuums we’ve tested, but the cordless convenience makes up for it.
