Klinserv has secured $100 million in development financing to support its municipal cleaning projects.
Speaking on the business operations, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tunde Ayeye, said the municipal project was undertaken in partnership with Hako, a world-leading German manufacturer of municipal, residential and industrial cleaning machines and robots.
The company has launched a range of environmentally friendly cleaning machines and robots for various sectors such as maritime, oil and gas, aviation, manufacturing, construction sites as well as roads, streets and built environments.
These machines and robots have different models specifically designed for cleaning airport aprons, runways, hangars, seaport terminals, shipyards, ship floors, cargo storage areas, factories, roads, streets, drainage areas and residential areas.
“We have secured a $100 million development partner financing to support the project. So we are basically working with the Lagos State Government, not just the Lagos State Government, to create a business model.
We welcome people from all other states in the federation and across sub-Saharan Africa to come with us to build this business model. It is similar to the public service provider model in Lagos, where the government does not have to pay the down payment,” Ayeye said.
“The development partners provide us with access to funds so that the government can pay over five or ten years, as the funds are available, instead of paying all at once, depending on the market capacity they are facing.
So, because they are development partners, the government’s involvement is necessarily high. The government has to guarantee that the project will go smoothly in some way because essentially this project involves municipal products, roads, highways and things like that.
“We are the operator of the entire project. That is, we are the technical partner. We work with the government. They agree to sign a memorandum of understanding, and then the government recruits its own people to operate it, we provide the technology, train the operators, and then agree on a mechanism for periodic payments based on the country’s and the environment’s tolerance, thereby creating jobs. ”
Speaking about the Hako-Klinserv partnership, Reji Cojo, Regional Manager for the Middle East and Africa at Hako Group, said the company is a world-leading supplier of municipal cleaning and high-pressure water jetting technology, working with distributors around the world to ensure seamless after-sales maintenance of cleaning machines and robots, which are designed to run on batteries, diesel or petrol, ensuring an environmentally friendly approach.
“Hako was the first company in Europe to produce sweepers, having previously been involved in agricultural machinery for decades. In 2021, Hako has manufactured the first series of cleaning robots that can operate autonomously according to a program. ” he said.
Meanwhile, the event was attended by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the state’s Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Ambrose-Medebem.
Sanwo-Olu stressed that the introduction of PECO, state-of-the-art outdoor municipal sweepers, advanced robotic machines and specialized equipment tailored for different industries, marks a promising new chapter for Lagos State, Nigeria and the West African region.
“Lagos State, as the regional hub for this product launch, is at the forefront of this exciting technological advancement. Our cities are facing the challenges of rapid urbanization and rapid population growth, which requires innovative and sustainable solutions to stay clean, improve sanitation and protect our environment,” the Governor said.
