Cold, wet winters can take a considerable toll on your outdoor space, especially your garden. Not only do your flower beds take months of wind and rain, but bad weather can also make your patio look even more run-down.
Leaves that have been blown and piled up in the winter, garden furniture that has been soaked by the rain, and even visitors’ shoes can carry dirt, which can lead to your patio needing a thorough cleaning.
Spring is the ideal time of year to get out and take care of your patio, prune some much-needed spruce, remove weeds, and even use a pressure washer.
Bad weather can make your patio look particularly run-down and faded, especially if mold and algae start to grow. If a pressure washer doesn’t do the trick, many gardeners opt to use natural cleaners like white vinegar and warm water.
But if you find that after washing your patio, there are still some stains left, you may want to look for other methods.
Most patios are built from concrete, which makes them very strong, but they can also accumulate a lot of dirt due to the porous material.
Over time, dirt can accumulate from spills, guests entering the house, and even rust on garden furniture, which can penetrate the surface and become difficult to remove.
A dirty patio can be off-putting for you and your guests, so it’s best to treat and remove the stains.
For those who are struggling with a dirty and discolored patio, members of the “Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips” Facebook group have been exchanging tips on how to tackle this common garden problem, and one “magic” item seems to be a popular solution.
A number of members of the group shared a handy tip for removing stains from outdoor patios using “patio magic.” One user suggested that simply “watering it with a watering can” would work immediately.
Patio Magic is a disinfecting cleaner that targets a wide range of dirt, including mold, moss, and algae, and it only needs to be left on for a few moments to work, with no scrubbing or pressure washing required.
Although Patio Magic works effectively without human intervention, it must be diluted before use, and due to its potent formula, it is recommended to be careful to avoid contact with plants and animals.
How to use: Mix Patio Magic with water and apply the mixture to the affected area using a standard watering can or low-pressure sprayer. Make sure the surface is completely saturated with the solution and water, then leave to dry to leave your patio floor shiny and glossy.
This biodegradable gardening product can be found at a variety of retailers, including B&Q for £12.75, Sainsbury’s for £14.50 and Tesco for £11.50.
