Companies say warehouses and retail businesses often use technology to provide efficient, cost-effective cleaning options for necessary commercial cleaning tasks.
Finding effective cleaning solutions has become challenging due to unpredictable staffing and the additional surface disinfection steps associated with Covid.
Avidbots says it set the bar in the cleaning industry with the launch of its latest generation of fully autonomous robotic floor cleaners, the Neo 2, in 2020.
To meet the growing demand, the company launched a disinfection add-on in 2021 and continues to develop and expand the functionality and quality of its autonomous robot product line.
In its latest collaboration with Maplesoft, Avidbots leveraged Maplesoft’s software capabilities to design robots and test real-world situations in a virtual simulation environment without investing resources in physical prototypes.
Using simulation software, mechatronics engineers can quickly produce different virtual prototypes much faster than building a single physical system.
It is also easier to test the performance of digital models under various operating conditions than setting up multiple test spaces in a warehouse.
Avidbots says it is critical to find ways to maintain flexibility in product development. When Avidbots decided to simulate the functionality of its robots, they chose Maplesoft’s MapleSim engineering software, hoping to provide its engineers with “reliable digital models with the right amount of realism and flexibility” to test a variety of scenarios, functions, and components.
Since Maplesoft launched the MapleSim product family in 2008, it has been used by designers around the world as a virtual modeling environment to evaluate design elements and quickly test the performance of different product features.
Maplesoft’s engineering team is experienced in modeling manufacturing, packaging, and warehouse robots, and MapleSim software can combine design elements from different engineering fields, such as mechanical, electrical, and drivetrain systems in autonomous robots, into a single platform.
“Maplesoft has been providing advanced modeling tools to help technology companies design better, more powerful machines through simulation,” said Chris Harduwar, Vice President of Business Development at Maplesoft.
“The successful collaboration between Maplesoft and Avidbots shows how Canadian technology companies can work together to provide a rich environment for developing new autonomous design ideas and bringing innovative, game-changing products to market faster.” ”
Avidbots robotic solutions are used around the world in a variety of environments such as airports and transportation, education, retail, manufacturing and warehousing, and healthcare.
Powered by proprietary AI software Avidbots Autonomy, their Neo product line enables fully autonomous cleaning while autonomously navigating through designated cleaning areas and automatically detecting and avoiding obstacles.
With its advanced performance reporting, Neo also allows companies to make data-driven decisions, improve operational efficiency, and prevent health and safety issues.
“We are excited to partner with another Canadian tech company, Maplesoft, and its commitment to innovation and engineering expertise,” said Peter Ahn, Vice President of Engineering at Avidbots.
“As a company, Avidbots is committed to making our products accessible to our customers and providing the best possible return on investment.”
“Maplesoft’s advanced virtual modeling capabilities help keep our product development flexible and adaptable so we can offer our customers built-in intelligence that enables Neo to operate independently in a consistent, efficient, and measurable way of cleaning.” ”
The merger of the two companies is expected to speed up time to market for new features and allow for a variety of options to match different industries.
The “innovative combination of Avidbots and Maplesoft meets market needs,” the companies said.
