My First Vacuum for Hardwood Floors—I’ll Never Switch Brands Again

by BERG

After painting my kitchen cabinets last October, I quickly realized I needed to replace my mismatched laminate flooring from the 90s. Over Thanksgiving weekend, my husband installed new hardwood floors, which meant sawdust everywhere.

Despite the mess, I was glad to have the sawdust because it meant I could clean my floors for the first time and fully showcase a brand new kitchen. But, of course, it was also this weekend that my vacuum decided to — pun intended — call it quits.

After spending hours researching the best vacuums for hardwood floors, I quickly made my decision when Tineco offered to send me the new Go Pet Cordless Vacuum.

This was the model I had been eyeing before, but after reading reviews from shoppers who used it to clean their hardwood floors, I knew it would be safe for my brand new floors.

After using it for nearly two months, I’m happy to report that I’m actually glad my other vacuum stopped working. I especially love its spinning brush head, which glides around furniture with ease.

It efficiently sucked up all the dust and debris created during the renovation, and I’ve used it daily for quick cleans and sweeps throughout the house ever since. It has been used to clean hardwood floors, bathroom tiles, carpets, and rugs.

One of my top considerations when choosing a vacuum cleaner is to find one that won’t scratch my floors, and the Tineco managed to keep my newly installed floors sparkling clean without any damage.

While it has three power settings (Eco, Auto (which automatically adjusts when changing floor types), and Max (for heavy-duty cleaning), I set it to Auto so it can automatically adjust from hardwood floors to carpets.

You can actually hear the suction increase when changing floor types, and you can also feel the power increase when debris increases. The control panel also lights up blue, pink, or red to show the suction level being used to clean a specific area.

Unlike most vacuums I’ve used in the past, the Tineco also did a great job cleaning rugs, with plenty of suction without picking up the edges of the rugs.

On top of that, it comes with a five-stage filtration system and HEPA filter, so I feel comfortable knowing it’s effectively capturing invisible particles and keeping the air fresh.

Besides the fact that it cleans well, doesn’t scratch floors, and can be converted to a handheld vacuum, my favorite feature is the LED light—it’s the brightest I’ve ever seen on a vacuum.

The bright light lets me clearly see dust that I can’t normally see, letting me know where to clean. I also like that the battery is removable, so I don’t have to plug the whole vacuum in to charge it.

There’s no charging dock that takes up space, so you can just take the battery out and charge it wherever you have access to an outlet. (By the way, the battery lasts up to 60 minutes, which is more than enough for cleaning my entire home.)

While I primarily use the vacuum for floors, the handheld vacuum also does a good job of getting into places I can’t reach, like around furniture and carpeted stair corners.

It comes with a crevice nozzle for cleaning tight spots, and a dusting brush, which is great for cleaning hardwood floors around kitchen appliances.

Tinceo It’s now the only vacuum I own in my home and the only one I need because it cleans hardwood, tile, carpet, rugs, and furniture. Check out the Tineco Go Pet Vacuum on sale now, or check out other similar options at Walmart.
