Skyline Robotics and Alimak Group, developers of skyscraper window cleaning robots, have entered into a mutually exclusive agreement to create the “next generation automated building maintenance unit”, setting a new standard for the construction and asset management industries.
The combination of Alimak Group’s global expertise in vertical access solutions and Skyline’s deep technology and robotics expertise provides a strong foundation for transforming an industry facing increasingly complex design challenges, labor shortages and best practices.
Alimak Group has also made an undisclosed strategic investment in Skyline Robotics to further advance project development.
“This collaboration represents the next step in the evolution of BMU technology, making it smarter and more integrated into modern asset management,” said Philippe Gastineau, Senior Executive Vice President of the Alimak Group’s Facade Access Division and Height Safety and Productivity Solutions Division.
“By automating the BMU, we are redefining the way buildings are maintained while supporting architects and developers in creating innovative, sustainable structures.” ”
The global construction industry is valued at $12.74 trillion and automating the industry, particularly Class A buildings, not only improves operational efficiency but also aids in sustainable building management and maintaining facades post-project.
This collaboration offers a transformative approach, combining Alimak Group’s industry-leading facade access solutions with Skyline Robotics’ cutting-edge automation technology to usher in a new era in building construction and maintenance.
Alimak will integrate Skyline Robotics’ ‘Ozmo’, an industrial robotic arm that cleans windows, to provide automated window cleaning capabilities while providing data to the industry for ‘best practice’ management, maintaining its assets while complying with extremely stringent environmental social and governance regulations.
Together, the two companies are committed to transforming the way modern buildings are maintained, meeting the growing demand for automated solutions and the need for sustainable and more efficient solutions.
By integrating advanced artificial intelligence into the BMU system, this collaboration sets a new benchmark for facade access innovation, operational excellence and future-proofing real estate assets.
“We are ushering in a new era of automated facade access,” said Michael Brown, CEO of Skyline Robotics. This exclusive partnership with the Alimak Group further expands our vision to take control of facades.
“We have already seen the impact of automation on existing infrastructure, such as with our window cleaning robot Ozmo, and now we hope to further transform the industry together with the world’s largest provider of sustainable vertical access solutions. ”
