Karcher Bucks Economic Trends

by BERG

Kärcher’s revenues for the 2024 fiscal year increased by 4.6 percent compared to the previous year and by 7.9 percent after adjusting for exchange rates, reaching a new high of 3.446 billion euros.

At the same time, the family-owned company’s employee count increased by 1,000 last year: The total workforce now consists of more than 17,000 employees in 85 countries and 170 companies.

“As a traditional manufacturing company, it is unique to achieve growth in 2024,” said Hartmut Jenner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Alfred Kärcher SE & Co. KG. “The global economy is challenging, with economic crises looming and rising prices for raw materials and freight rates, which are closely related to us. I am proud that Kärcher was able to rise to the challenge in this complex situation, win numerous customers and open up new markets.”

Kärcher’s broad portfolio focused on cleaning and care – currently with more than 3,000 products on the market – once again ensured stable sales last year. Recent developments in the global cleaning market have been bifurcated: demand from private customers has fallen, while demand from professional users has grown at the same time, and vice versa.

“Our business model is absolutely key to our differentiation. Kärcher has been able to remain resilient because we distribute our broad range of products across markets and channels and are closer to our customers than ever before,” says Hartmut Jenner.

At the end of 2024, Kärcher Futuretech made a significant contribution to the company’s revenue performance with one of the largest orders in its history: the German Bundeswehr ordered additional equipment worth almost €24 million.

Last year, Kärcher invested more than €200 million to consolidate its leading position in the cleaning industry and pave the way for future success. One of the focuses of the investments was cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence. In 2024, Kärcher had provided 13,000 employees with licenses for Google AI Gemini and trained them extensively in the use of the tool, making the cleaning specialist a pioneer in its field.

In addition to the Google Workspace applications already in use within the company, the move is also aimed at increasing efficiency and freeing up more time for demanding and value-added tasks:

“Enabling our employees to receive support with generative AI in such a timely and comprehensive manner is not only the best decision for Kärcher, but can also be part of Germany’s solution as an industrial hub,” said Hartmut Jenner.
