Roborock, a leader in China’s household robot vacuum cleaner market, recently released a robot vacuum cleaner equipped with the industry’s first “five-axis folding robot arm”, further consolidating its market leadership.
The development of this new product stems from the exploration of robot arm technology that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) systems, reflecting Roborock’s determination to promote the vision of “fully automatic” AI cleaning robots and minimize human intervention.
On June 17, Roborock opened a new product pop-up store “Saros Z70” at Gangnam Shinsegae Department Store in Seocho District, Seoul, South Korea, and held a product demonstration event.
Unlike previous vacuum cleaners that can only avoid obstacles on the ground (such as socks and slippers), Saros Z70 has the ability to actively clean obstacles.
For example, it can move slippers to the door, put socks in the laundry basket, and then continue cleaning, showing a higher level of automation.
The core of this product – a five-axis robot arm called “OmniGrip”, which integrates dual cameras, precision sensors and AI algorithms.
When the front camera detects an object during operation, the camera at the end of the robotic arm will accurately identify the target and can pick up objects weighing up to 300 grams.
The system combines the flexibility of the mechanical structure with the judgment ability of AI, and can smoothly handle objects of various shapes and achieve efficient object movement.
In the live demonstration, after the sweeping robot recognized the slippers on the ground, it actively extended the robotic arm and moved it to the door one meter away. The whole process took about one minute.
When the device first detects an obstacle, it will mark it as a “movable object” on the App map. The robot will then move it to the designated area according to the user’s settings and start vacuuming and mopping.
After cleaning, it will automatically return to the originally blocked area, completely eliminating the cleaning blind spot.
This sweeping robot can recognize up to 108 pre-trained objects and supports learning 50 new objects specified by the user through AI.
In addition, it also has a safety mechanism. If the gripper is stuck by foreign objects during handling, the safety response program will be triggered immediately.
A relevant person in charge of Roborock pointed out: “Through in-depth research and development and technological innovation, we have perfectly embedded the robotic arm into the sweeping robot, keeping the thickness of the whole machine at 7.89 cm, making it the thinnest sweeping robot at present.”
In terms of performance, this new product has a suction force of up to 22,000 Pa, which can easily absorb small particles on the carpet, and its suction level ranks among the top in the Korean market.
The product is also equipped with a lifting system that easily crosses the 4-cm threshold, as well as technology to autonomously adjust the height of the vehicle body to adapt to complex terrain.
It also supports functions such as 80°C hot water mopping, automatic drying, and pet location recognition, further strengthening its positioning as an “AI family assistant”. The robot is priced at 2.19 million won and is Roborock’s most expensive product to date.
A person related to Roborock Technology said: “This new product represents the first step in the development of AI housekeeping robots.
Its role is not limited to cleaning, but can also help users organize items.” They also added: “We will continue to launch technologically advanced products in the Korean market and deepen our interaction and connection with consumers by expanding our home appliance product line.”
Although the Korean market has been called the “graveyard of foreign electronic brands”, Roborock Technology still achieved sales of 241.4 billion won last year and maintained its leading position in the industry.
Since officially entering the Korean market in 2020, Roborock Technology has topped the local market share list in just two years with its advantages such as mopping and AI navigation technology, ahead of local giants such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics.
