Are we the only ones who think that the start of a new year means it’s time to update your home? Dusting your home is a good place to start, and if your old vacuum makes a hissing sound every time you turn it on, it’s time to upgrade.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on a high-end Dyson either; Amazon shoppers have discovered a much more affordable vacuum that many say they love just as much (or more) than the premium brands.
It’s the Black & Decker PowerSeries+ 16V Max Cordless Upright Vacuum. It has the same sleek looks as its pricier cousins, but it just happens to cost just $88. What a steal!
A lightweight vacuum that looks like a Dyson, has great battery life, and costs less than $90? Yeah, we were tempted too.
Why is it such a bargain?
This is the lowest price we’ve seen on this vacuum since last spring, and considering the prices of other brands (Dyson’s are upwards of $300), it’s a no-brainer. Most upright vacuums in this price range come from obscure brands, and the fact that this one has Black+Decker branding only adds to its appeal.
This vacuum doesn’t have the highest voltage, but unless you’re doing heavy cleaning, that should be enough. (The 20V model is currently on sale for $99.)
Why do I need it?
At just 8 pounds, this Black+Decker upright vacuum is easier to move and carry around the house than a bulkier upright vacuum—and it’s cordless, so you don’t have to worry about tripping over cords or searching for an empty outlet every time you visit a different room.
Don’t let its lightweight design fool you, though. This vacuum lasts up to 40 minutes without charging, and uses AutoSense technology to figure out how much suction power is needed for different surfaces. It also has an anti-tangle brush bar (good news if you have pet hair to deal with), and a cyclonic filtration system to help keep the filter clean and the machine in good working order.
Any other cool features? It easily converts to a handheld vacuum and features a crevice nozzle, so you can easily clean stairs, furniture, and even inside your car. An LED light on the head lets you see crumbs and debris when cleaning dark spaces, and when you’re done, it stands upright on its own—no need to store it on a stand or lean it against a wall.
